The magnetic properties of iron minerals are very variable, of which magnetite is strongly magnetic, siderite, hematite and limonite are weakly magnetic and pyrite is non-magnetic. Important gangue minerals such as silica found in iron ores belong to the non-magnetic group.

RE (Rare-Earth) Roll Type Separators are used in the separation of anti-ferromagnetic (weak ferromagnetics: limonite, hematite, mica, biotite, siderite, etc.) from stone, quartz powder, magnesite, silicon carbide, etc. which are the most important part of mineral enrichment systems, providing high field intensity, especially for the enrichment of dry industrial raw materials, such as sea sand, feldspar (in ceramics), silica sand (glass production), calcium carbonate, kaolin clay, garnet, gypsum. It can easily separate nickel cobalt from titanium and zirconium.

The use of permanent magnet magnetic separators with higher field strength and lower production cost is the most preferred magnetic separator, especially for the enrichment of dry industrial raw materials.

Working Principle:

Roll type magnetic separators separate the magnetic or weak magnetic grains passing over the magnetic roller from non-magnetic grains by deflecting their orbits with magnetic force.

The design of the Roll type dry RE magnetic separators is quite simple. This type of magnetic separators consist of two rolls, one magnetic in the front, a thin and durable tape that provides material transfer and a separator blade which separates magnetic and non-magnetic materials from each other. Feeding is usually done by an adjustable vibratory feeder and feedroll.
