SmCo has very little free iron in its structure which means it offers excellent corrosion resistance to water. It rarely requires a protective coating. Due to its performance properties, SmCo is often used in place of Neodymium in mission critical applications such as aerospace and military applications. SmCo is a fragile material and can easily break if mishandled. While the metal casing protects the magnet, it also transfers the attraction force from the non-adhesive surface of the magnet to the bonding surface, providing much more bonding force. It is suitable for applications requiring high temperature and corrosion resistance.
